About Dr. Frank Gunzburg
Dr. Gunzburg is the author of How to Survive An Affair, Saving Your Marriage and How to Forgive and Work Through the Past.
Personal:
Dr. Gunzburg lives with his wife and two children in Baltimore, Maryland. His other four children are adults and live independently. Dr. Gunzburg is already a grandfather several times. His personal interests include nutrition and health-related subjects, crafts, computers, recreational reading, and outdoor activities. He was the first in his family born in the United States, and was raised in Richmond, Virginia.
Undergraduate Degree:
Dr. Gunzburg graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree (B.S.) in Psychology in 1967 from Virginia Commonwealth University. While an undergraduate, he was selected for membership in Psi Chi, the National Honor Fraternity for Psychology. In addition, the Hillel Organization bestowed him with the Hillel National Honor Key.
Doctorate Degree:
In 1974, Dr. Gunzburg earned his Doctor of Philosophy Degree (Ph.D.) in Counseling from American University at Washington, DC. While in attendance, he earned a University-Wide Competitive Scholarship.
Special Recognition:
Dr. Gunzburg also received special recognition from Dr. John Cameron, M.D., a world-renowned psychoanalyst and the Director of Training and Research at the Chestnut Lodge Psychiatric Hospital in Rockville, Maryland. Dr. Cameron gave his personal endorsement to Dr. Gunzburg to attend his highly selective advanced training seminar, which admitted only a few students each year.
Psychology License:
In 1975, Dr. Gunzburg took the licensing board examination given by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists and was licensed to practice psychology in Maryland. He also holds the Certificate of Professional Qualification in Psychology (CPQ) from the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards. The CPQ certifies having met the basic national standards for psychology practice.
Counselor Certification:
Dr. Gunzburg is certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors with specialties in Mental Health Counseling and Supervision.

Therapeutic Style:
During his more than thirty years of experience, Dr. Gunzburg has developed his own therapeutic style. He has attended workshops with many of the greatest thinkers in psychology of the last century. He has gleaned much from their works and synthesized this knowledge with his direct clinical experience. His patients describe him as uniquely helpful in his approach. |
